Walton Arts Center has named Wendy Riggs as its vice president of operations.
Riggs comes from the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, Tuscaloosa River Market and Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum for the City of Tuscaloosa. There, she oversaw programming, fundraising and daily operations.
"(Wendy) was hired for the newly created position of vice president of operations at Walton Arts Center and will support our growing operations and manage and maintain practices and policies for all facilities," Peter B. Lane, president and CEO of Walton Arts Center, said in a news release. "Wendy's experience in capital project management, staff management and development, and budgeting and financial management gives her the skills necessary to lead our operations team to implement strategies and procedures that will support our growth."
Riggs earned her bachelor's degree from Auburn University and a master's from the University of Alabama, where she previously served as a professor.
"I am thrilled for this new opportunity with Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville," Riggs said in the release. "We can't wait to settle in and see all that northwest Arkansas has to offer."
Riggs' management will include the oversight of a $20 million renovation of the Walton Arts Center and the newly opened Wal-Mart AMP in Rogers.
The Walton Center renovation, being completed by CDI Contractors of Little Rock, could cost as much as $23 million. Work on the expansion and renovation is expected to begin summer 2015.
