One Eleven in LR, Chef at The Hive in Bentonville Named James Beard Award Semifinalists

1 min read

The restaurant One Eleven at the Capital in Little Rock has been named a semifinalist for the 2015 James Beard Award in the best new restaurant category, and Matthew McClure at The Hive restaurant in Bentonville has been named a semifinalist for best chef in the South.

One Eleven, at the Capital Hotel, underwent a complete transformation last year: a renovation, redecoration and renaming, changing from Ashley’s to One Eleven, its physical address on West Markham Street.

Chef Joel Antunes, a winner of the James Beard Best Chef of the Southeast Award in 2005 for his work as executive chef of Joël Restaurant in Atlanta, was named the new executive chef at Ashley’s in December 2012 and oversaw the changeover to One Eleven. He told Arkansas Business for an article in January 2014 that he envisioned a more relaxed restaurant with a more accessible menu.

McClure’s Hive restaurant is located in the 21c Museum Hotel in Bentonville, which has seen tremendous growth in its hospitality offerings with the opening of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in 2011.

The James Beard Awards are among the most prestigious in the restaurant industry.
