A photographer’s tour last week revealed a gutted Robinson Center filled with massive construction equipment dwarfing busy hard-hatted workers.

The Little Rock auditorium is undergoing a $68 million renovation led by the design team of Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects of Little Rock and Ennead Architects of New York. CDI Contractors of Little Rock has partnered with Hunt Construction Group of Dallas as general contractors and construction managers.

Robinson Center closed on July 1 and demolition began after the July Fourth holiday. More than nine months into the two-year project, David Porter, project manager for the renovation design team, said that there had been no big surprises so far. “It’s gone as well as we’d hoped and planned.” Robinson is scheduled to reopen in fall 2016.
