KFSM Changing TV Faces In Northwest Arkansas

2 min read

KFSM-TV, Channel 5, made some recent staffing shifts with the departure of the station’s sports director and managing editor.

News Director Bill Cummings said in an email to Arkansas Business that former Sports Director Chris Breece has left for a job in Birmingham, Alabama. Breece is now on the air at WIAT-TV, a CBS affiliate.

Bobby Swofford, who has been at the station since 2012, was promoted to fill Breece’s spot, Cummings said.

Cummings said that Managing Editor Larry Henry had also left the station. Henry, who was in the position from March 2012 through last week, has reportedly taken a teaching position at Haas Hall Academy in Fayetteville. Calls to the school went unanswered last week.

In other news at the station, Katelynn Zoellner has been named to the weeknight news desk. Zoellner, who joined the station in August 2013, announced on Facebook late last month that she would be joining the weeknight team.

You might remember that Liza Danver, who had been named to the station’s weeknight news team in May, was arrested June 13 after, police say, she was caught speeding on Interstate 540 in Van Buren. She was charged with refusing to submit to a chemical test, driving while intoxicated, driving left of center and speeding and later resigned from the station.

And at KNWA-TV, a new main weeknight anchor was announced last week. Nate Kuester, who previously worked for WDJT in Milwaukee, will start in early September, the station said in a news release.

“We couldn’t be more excited about Nate joining our news team,” KNWA/KFTA General Manager Lisa Kelsey said in a statement.
