Rainwater, Holt & Sexton: Growing Careers, Bettering Lives
Rainwater, Holt & Sexton

Rainwater Holt & Sexton is all about serving the “Razorback Nation,” as listeners to Hog football, basketball and baseball radio broadcasts surely know by heart thanks to the well-known advertising spots. But the law firm, based in Little Rock with offices in Fayetteville, Conway and Hot Springs, is all about serving its employees as well.

The firm’s approach to its employees and giving back to the community perhaps is best represented by its vending machine charity drive. From January though July in the Little Rock office, all items in break room vending machines were subsidized by the firm and priced at a quarter.

All proceeds from each month were matched by the firm and given to a charity selected by employees. The firm raised more than $5,390.

CFO Rick Gunther said the firm’s goal is to provide a place for team members to grow their careers, better their lives, and enjoy each day they come to the office.

“We are in the challenging business of helping people repair their lives and the lengthy process can be stressful on our team,” he said. “Through the evolution of our firm, we have been intentional about creating a culture that promotes family, team, hard work and fun.”

Employee perks and benefits at the firm include casual Fridays; “Rainwear” (company provided apparel); a prize wheel for birthdays and work anniversaries; health benefits; circus tickets for employees and families; monthly cupcakes for birthdays; firm-provided food for lunches; free Starbucks coffee in the break room; a training room for new employees; and ongoing cross training sessions.

One particular charity that’s close to all Rainwater employees is the ALS Association. In January of 2014, firm partner Stephen Holt passed away from ALS. Since his diagnosis in 2013, the firm has been very active in raising money for the ALS Association and participating in events including the ALS Walk and the Ice Bucket Challenge designed to raise awareness and money.
