Simmons Prepared Foods, part of Simmons Foods Inc. of Siloam Springs, said Tuesday that it is leasing space at Zero Mountain in Fort Smith and creating more than 100 jobs.
Simmons Prepared Foods is a vertically integrated producer of poultry products. The company recently announced an increase in hourly pay at its production facilities.
As a part of the expansion, Simmons is offering jobs in management, production, maintenance and quality assurance. It said new employees will receive paid, on-the-job training and a $300 bonus to be paid out over their first 90 days of employment.
Simmons employs more than 1,000 people in Van Buren.
Zero Mountain Inc. provides cold and dry storage warehousing. Last year, it announced a $14 million, 90,000-SF expansion and said that it had acquired a 206,000-SF warehouse adjacent to its headquarters on Highway 45 South.
Zero Mountain's expansion was to include freezer and cooler space and double the company's blast freezing capacity.
