Contractor Gets $110M For Wal-Mart Work

The city of Bentonville awarded more than $110 million in building permits to the Whiting-Turner Construction Co. of Baltimore.

Whiting-Turner is building a new distribution center for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. at 5800 SW Regional Airport Blvd. The project will be on a 120-acre site adjacent to an existing Wal-Mart distribution center.

Ft Scott Property LLC, whose billing address is Wal-Mart's property tax department, purchased the two properties that make up the tract for $2.6 million from the Rominger Revocable Trust, led by Ronald and Sherry Rominger, in 2013.

Whiting-Turner was awarded two separate permits, one for $110.79 million and one for slightly more than $218,000.
