The Metro Board of Directors announced Monday the hiring of Charles Frazier, assistant director of Palm Tran in Palm Beach County, Florida, as executive director of Rock Region Metro.
His first day on the job will be June 25, and his salary will be $160,000.
Frazier has 22 years of experience. He served in the Palm Beach County administration as division director of electronic services and security and manager of network services for the county.
He is also one of 25 public transportation officials selected for the year-long American Public Transportation Association leadership program.
Former Executive Director Jarod Varner left the central Arkansas transit organization in August after four years at the helm. He took a regional leadership role with First Transit, an international transit operations, management and consulting firm based in Cincinnati.
Frazier was one of three finalist candidates who completed a vetting process managed by Springsted Waters Executive Recruitment of Dallas and the Metro board's personnel committee. Finalists were selected from nine semi-finalists by the full board earlier this month and then interviewed in person the week of April 23.
