Calhoun County Tops List of Smallest Bank Markets in Arkansas

Community State Bank retains its title as the smallest bank in Arkansas, but its Lafayette County market is not the smallest.

At least six other counties have fewer banks and fewer deposits than Lafayette County’s tally of five lenders and $125 million in deposits.

Each of the six counties has only two competing lenders.

Three out of the six counties are in south Arkansas with the balance scattered around the state.

► Calhoun County, $50.8 million in deposits with Generations Bank of Hampton and First State Bank of Warren.

► Perry County, $71.6 million in deposits with Farmers & Merchants Bank of Stuttgart and U.S. Bank of Cincinnati.

► Cleveland County, $73.9 million in deposits with Rison’s Gateway Bank and FBT Bank & Mortgage of Fordyce.

► Newton County, $80 million in deposits with Anstaff Bank of Green Forest and Little Rock’s Bank OZK.

► Lee County, $98.9 million in deposits with Forrest City’s First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas and Farmers & Merchants Bank of Stuttgart.

► Nevada County, $108.7 million in deposits with Bank of Prescott and Bank of Delight.
