New Station Manager Makes Staff Moves at KASU

1 min read

Longtime staffer Mark Smith has been named the new station manager at Arkansas State University’s radio station, KASU. He succeeds Mike Doyle, who retired at the end of the academic year.

One of Smith’s first decisions was naming Kristy Cates as its new development director, with a goal of enhancing the NPR affiliate’s fundraising efforts.

An ASU broadcasting graduate, Smith joined the professional staff in 1990 and became the local host of NPR’s “Morning Edition” in 1995. He took over as development director in 2011.

Cates has a radio-television degree from Abilene Christian University in Texas and a master’s from Valdosta State University in Georgia.
