It’s not unusual to see a former White House chief of staff in Little Rock — when it’s Thomas F. “Mack” McLarty III, President Bill Clinton’s top aide in 1993-94.
But that man sitting by himself in the Capital Bar & Grill last Tuesday was a much more recent CoS: Reince Priebus, who served President Donald Trump for the first six months of his administration.
Since then, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee has been president and chief strategist for the Washington law firm Michael Best & Friedrich and chairman of the board of advisers for Michael Best Strategies LLC, the firm’s lobbying division.
Accosted by Whispers while he was minding his own business, Priebus said he had a meeting that afternoon with “Warren and Curt” — that would be Stephens, owner of Stephens Inc. and the Capital Hotel, and Bradbury, COO of Stephens Inc.
Also on his schedule: a meeting with Doyle Webb, chairman of the Republican Party of Arkansas.
Priebus said he had visited Little Rock about a dozen times — “fundraising, you know” — and Fayetteville once.
