Sam's Club CEO to Speak at Arkansas Economic Development Foundation Lunch
John Furner (Sam's Club)

Sam's Club President and CEO John Furner will speak at the Arkansas Economic Development Foundation luncheon on Jan. 30 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.

The luncheon, a joint event by the AEDF and the Arkansas Industrial and Economic Development Foundation, aims to benefit economic development work in Arkansas through research, site visits and recruitment support. Gov. Asa Hutchinson will also attend and make remarks.

Furner started with Walmart as an hourly employee in 1993 and has held many roles at the company during his 26-year career. As CEO of Sam's Club, he oversees more than 100,000 employees, about 600 stores and nearly $60 billion in annual revenue.

"We are excited for John to join us and share his vision for the future of retail and what's next for Sam’s Club," Gus Vratsinas, AEDF president, said in a news release. "Most importantly, we appreciate him supporting our mission to advance economic development efforts in the state."

The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wally Allen Ballroom of the Statehouse Convention Center. Tickets are $300 each or $2,500 for a table of 10.
