Letters Go Out to 32 Winning Cannabis Dispensaries; Agents Listed

The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Board was busy Friday sending out award letters to the 32 businesses approved for dispensary licenses in the state's medical marijuana program.

The ABC is overseeing the program, along with the Arkansas Department of Health and the independent Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission, which voted 5-0 on Wednesday to begin the process of granting dispensary licenses to four dispensaries in each of eight zones around the state.

The businesses will sell medicinal cannabis products to patients found to have one of 18 qualifying conditions and approved by the state to use the drug. So far, some 6,700 Arkansans have been qualified, but industry leaders expect the eventual number of medicinal users to be perhaps 10 times than number, or 65,000-70,000 patients.

The dispensary companies receiving the award letters were given a week to pay a $15,000 licensing fee and post a $100,000 performance bond before actually gaining their licenses.

Each dispensary will be allowed by law to develop 50 mature marijuana plants at any one time to harvest for sales, though there was no clear listing of the sites that plan to grow their own plants.

The bulk of medical marijuana in Arkansas will come from the five cultivation sites that gained licenses from the commission last year. Four of those sites have begun construction, and the first cannabis from them is expected to come on the market in April. Qualified patients are scheduled to get their state-issued marijuana cards in mid-February.

Some winning dispensaries will have to choose a zone for operation, allowing other applicants to move up.

The winning dispensaries, and some of the details listed in their applications, are listed below by Application No., Biz name, County, Registered agent, phone, mailing address.
