Cancer-treatment provider CARTI on Monday said it will open "The Breast Center at CARTI" inside its main Little Rock facility in June.
Arkansas Business reported the nonprofit's plans in its "Whispers" column on Monday.
Melissa Masingill, vice president of marketing and business development, said that while CARTI already treats breast cancer discovered by other mammogram providers, it has not previously offered screening mammograms to the public.
She said women will be able to self-refer to The Breast Center at CARTI, which will include a fellowship-trained breast radiologist, Dr. Stacy Smith-Foley, who has more than a decade of clinical experience in Arkansas, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Smith-Foley will be the center's medical director.
"For the first time ever, patients can self-select to have their annual breast imaging services at CARTI," said Adam Head, CARTI president and CEO. "This expands our impact from only treating cancer patients to also seeing patients who have not and may not ever have a cancer diagnosis."
The facility will offer screening and diagnostic services, including 3D screening mammography and high resolution breast MRI.
