Charles King was recently hired by Philander Smith College in Little Rock as the new vice president for institutional advancement.

King is now responsible for overseeing public relations, marketing, special events and alumni relations.

King has more than 10 years of higher education experience and previously served as senior major gifts officer at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.


Dr. Jennifer Hunt, chair of the department of pathology and laboratory services at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, is one of five nationwide recipients of the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Council of Deans Fellowship.

Hunt is recognized nationally and internationally for her expertise in head, neck, endocrine and molecular anatomic pathology and for her work on over 150 publications.


Dennis Clark was recently appointed dean of the University of Arkansas Libraries at Fayetteville.

Clark has a background in library administration, library leadership and overseeing library renovations. Clark was chosen by the University of Arkansas to ensure the continued growth and transformation of the University of Arkansas Libraries.


Edward Serna, interim chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, will be leaving UAFS on June 30 to become president of the University of Maine at Farmington.
