Amy Whitehead has been named chief of staff at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, effective Aug. 12.
Whitehead, a member of the 2019 Arkansas Business 40 Under 40 class, is currently assistant vice president for community and workforce development in UCA's Division of Outreach and Community Engagement.
She replaces Kelley Erstine, who has served as chief of staff since 2014. On Aug. 15, he will join the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas as its CEO.
In addition, Whitehead is a graduate of UCA's Community Development Institute and Master of Science in Community and Economic Development program.
She is also a certified professional community and economic developer through the national Community Development Council.
Whitehead serves on the Arkansas Community Development Society board, the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension's Breakthrough Solutions Advisory Council and with the CREATE Bridges initiative.
She was appointed by the governor to the Arkansas Geographic Information Systems Board as well.
On the national level, Whitehead serves as vice chair of the Community Development Council, and she was appointed to a three-year term on the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Community Development Advisory Council in 2016.
She holds bachelor's and master's degrees from UCA and has lived in Conway for 17 years.
