Dillard’s Inc. had an unpleasant second quarter: same-store sales down 2% and a net loss of $40.7 million. But not all of the Little Rock retailer’s news is bad.
In Columbia, Missouri, Dillard’s is planning to open a second store in the Columbia Mall. Dillard’s wholly owned contractor, CDI Contractors, recently pulled a $200,000 building permit to convert the former Sears space.
Dillard’s already has a store in the mall, and the Columbia Daily Tribune confirmed with the city planner and Dillard’s employees that the new space would not replace the existing store.
The two-store configuration is, of course, familiar to patrons of Park Plaza in Little Rock.
