People hungry in downtown Springdale have another year to sit down and eat at the neighborhood grill.
Spring Street Grill & Catering, located just north of Emma Avenue on Spring Street — and just a hop, skip and a jump from the new offices of Tyson Foods Inc. — was sold for $695,000 by owner Bill Palkowsky.
Palkowsky said he doesn’t know exactly what he will do in a year; he could stay in the building, move to another location or transition to a pure catering business.
“All options are on the table,” Palkowsky said. “We will see what develops. I have a year to figure it out.”
Palkowsky, 67, said the buyer, Greg Taylor of Weichert Realtors-The Griffin Co., made him a good offer and allowed him a year to decide what to do. Palkowsky said he has a lease option to keep the restaurant in the 9,956-SF building.
“The catering business is fabulous,” Palkowsky said. “The sit-down restaurant hasn’t worked as well as the catering for 20 years.”
Taylor got a $510,000 loan from Legacy National Bank in Springdale for the purchase.
