Harvest House of Cannabis of Little Rock Gets State Clearance to Open

2 min read

A Little Rock medical marijuana dispensary, Harvest House of Cannabis at 900 S. Rodney Parham Road, has been cleared by the state to open, Scott Hardin of the Arkansas Department of Finance & Administration announced Monday.

The dispensary, one of three licensed in Pulaski County, is the first to receive formal approval from the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Division, which noted that it had passed its final inspections. “The opening date is now at the discretion of owners,” Hardin said in an emailed statement. “The two remaining dispensaries in Zone 5 that are not yet approved, Herbology (Little Rock, located on Kanis Road) and Natural Relief Dispensary (Sherwood, located on East Kiehl Avenue) are completing final inspections,” he added. “We will provide confirmation as these locations are approved by ABC.”

Alex Howe, head of corporate communications for Harvest Health & Recreation of Tempe, Arizona, Harvest House’s national affiliate, told Arkansas Business no  opening date had been set, but “the plan is to be open by early to mid- next week. We’ll keep you posted as to when we’ll have a definite date.”

Harvest House “is the first Little Rock dispensary to receive approval to launch operations,” Hardin added. “Currently, the closest operational dispensaries to Little Rock are Native Green Wellness (Henlsey) and Harvest Cannabis Dispensary (Conway).”

In fact, the Conway dispensary has sued Harvest House of Cannabis over similarities between the two businesses’ names. Robbin Rahman, representing his parents, who own the Conway dispensary, filed suit in Faulkner County Circuit Court, claiming that a second dispensary a short drive away shouldn’t also have “Harvest” in its name. The two businesses are unrelated.

Harvest House of Cannabis, which changed its name from Natural State Wellness Dispensary, is 51-percent owned by Henry Wilkins V. Former Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is one of several owners with 6% stakes.

Harvest Health & Recreation is also operating one of two medical cannabis cultivation centers getting up and running in Newport.

Natural Relief Dispensary is nearing opening in a newly built facility at 3107 E. Kiehl Ave. in Sherwood. That dispensary is owned by Brian Faught.
