Small/Rural Hospital Winner: Arkansas Children's Northwest
Arkansas Children’s Northwest in Springdale

As the northwest Arkansas region’s first and only children’s hospital, Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW) is transforming health care for the area’s young.

It is part of the Arkansas Children’s system of care, and the ACNW team delivers expert pediatrics close to home. The unique specialty services address any health need, even the most complex.

From the design of its buildings to the doctors it hires, ACNW makes the needs of children and families its priority.

The easy access to complete, around the clock, pediatric health care includes an emergency department just for children. From its eye-pleasing new campus, ACNW provides access to all services at Arkansas Children’s flagship hospital in Little Rock, education and outreach programs, mobile health programs, a pediatric research institute, school-based health solutions, and has statewide transportation available to bring children in critical condition to life-saving treatments and telehealth services.

The 233,613-SF hospital is located on 37 acres in Springdale — almost centrally located in the northwest region. This location means 70% of northwest Arkansas residents in Benton and Washington Counties can reach Arkansas Children’s services in 30 minutes or fewer.

Because ACNW cares only for children — infants, toddlers, adolescents and teenagers — it knows what patients and families need the most to heal. The space was designed for family-centered care and promotes healing and well-being through wellness space designed to raise children’s discovery and delight, as well as outdoor gardens, nature trails and interactive features designed just for children.

Additionally, rooms for breastfeeding are available on each level of the hospital and large changing tables are available for older children and those with complex medical needs. These are located in the family restroom in the emergency department and the family restroom in the outpatient clinics lobby.

The skilled pediatric team delivers personal, high-quality care tailored to each patient and family. ACNW’s unique culture of clinical expertise and teamwork across specialties allows the hospital to diagnose, treat and monitor a wide range of children’s health concerns. From the most common to the most complex conditions, the team members work together to deliver a kind, thoughtful and easy care experience.
