White Gets National Appointment on Diversity Task Force (Movers & Shakers)

Lanita White has been appointed to the ASHP Task Force on Racial Diversity, Equity & Inclusion by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in Little Rock.

White is an assistant dean for student affairs in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy in Little Rock.

The ASHP task force will assess the society’s efforts in the areas of racial diversity, equity and inclusion as they relate to issues facing Black Americans, and make related recommendations on new or enhanced efforts in governance, education, research, advocacy and communications.

Dr. Gohar Azhar, a nationally recognized expert on cardiovascular aging research at UAMS, has been invested in the Jackson T. Stephens Distinguished Chair in Geriatrics Clinical Affairs.

Her clinical research includes the study of heart failure, memory disorders, delirium and functional outcomes in older adults in response to nutritional interventions. An endowed chair is among the highest academic honors a university can give a faculty member.

Dr. Madhura Borikar has joined CHI St. Vincent Little Rock Diagnostic Clinic as an endocrinologist. Borikar attended medical school at Government Medical College in Aurangabad, India, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia.

She also completed fellowship training in endocrinology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Dr. Kenneth Howell has joined CHI St. Vincent Heart Institute in Little Rock as a cardiovascular surgeon.

Howell attended medical school at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Colorado Denver.

He also completed fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Utah Health.

Julie Rowland has joined Baptist Health in Fort Smith as an advanced practice registered nurse.

Rowland has been a nurse practitioner in the community for four years and has 13 years of nursing experience. She provides wellness exams, preventive care and treatment for acute illness for patients who are school-age and older.

Rowland earned an APRN degree at Simmons College in Boston and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Arkansas.


Dr. Paul Edwards

Dr. Paul K. Edwards has been hired as an orthopedic surgeon at Bowen Hefley Orthopedics in Little Rock.

Edwards specializes in minimally invasive, muscle-sparing hip replacement, knee replacement and revision joint replacement.

He has been practicing total joint replacement in the Little Rock area for more than eight years.

Reagan Heffley has joined the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas as director of communications, including social media and publications for the association. She is a recent graduate of the University of Central Arkansas at Conway, and previously worked in the marketing department at Conway Regional Health System.
