Small Meat Processors in Arkansas Get Another $5.4M in CARES Grants

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture announced late Friday that an additional $5.4 million in funding has been approved and awarded through the Arkansas Meat and Poultry Processing Grant Program.  

That brings the total funding for the program to $10.4 million, with $5 million of that awarded earlier this month.

The newly named recipients are:

  • Arkansas State University of Jonesboro.

  • Bee’s Mobile Butchery of Lamar.

  • Buck Matthews of Waldron.

  • Centerpoint High School of Amity.

  • Central Arkansas Mobile Processing of Lonsdale.

  • Clarksville Processing and Taxidermy.

  • Cut to Taste of Perryville.

  • Moore’s Mill, Homestead Food of Charleston.

  • Morrilton Packing Co.

  • OK Beef of Nashville, Arkansas.

  • Ouachita Valley Meat Co. of Arkadelphia.

  • Prewitt Farms Cattle and Meat Market of Texarkana, Arkansas.

  • Prime Country Meats of Horatio.

  • Ridge Runners Processing of Jonesboro.

  • Taylor’s Custom Butcher Shop of Cave City.

  • Williams Baptist University of Walnut Ridge.

  • Wynne Meat Processing.

  • 2B Butchered Custom Mobile Slaughter of Vilonia.

The department received 45 applications requesting a total of more than $30 million. The recipients will receive 85.9% of the amount they requested, up to a cap of $500,000 each.

Collectively, the recipients anticipate increasing processing capacity by more than 2,000 cattle, 850 hogs, 7,400 poultry and eight goats and sheep per month. They also anticipate needing 258 full-time and 75 part-time employees.
