Windsor Door said Thursday that it will add a third production line and a second shift at its Little Rock manufacturing plant, with plans to hire 42 people to meet commercial and residential demand.
Based in Little Rock, the company makes and distributes residential garage and commercial sectional overhead door products. It has distribution centers in Ontario, Canada; Houston, El Paso, Arlington and Richardson, Texas; and Little Rock.
The company said it's expanding to meet residential and commercial demand fueled by nationwide construction growth. Part of the expansion includes new equipment that will allow the company to produce for both residential and commercial markets simultaneously.
Executive Vice President Hans Wright said job openings range from skilled labor to entry level positions. He said the company is place where people can build a career.
"Many of our team members exceed 30 plus years of dedication and employment," he said. "Our hope with the expanded capacity is to offer career building opportunities for the next generation of our community."
Windsor Door has a 74-year history in Arkansas and is among the nation's largest door manufacturers, serving the commercial, industrial and residential building markets. Today's announcement will grow its employee count to 150 from 108.
The Arkansas Economic Development Commission said Windsor qualifies for two incentive programs: Tax Back, which provides sales tax refunds on building materials, taxable machinery and equipment associated with the project; and Advantage Arkansas, which provides a state income tax credit of 1% of total payroll.
"Over the past seven decades, Windsor Door has serviced hundreds of thousands of residential and commercial customers with garage doors and custom wood doors built with materials produced here in Arkansas," Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in a news release. "This company is a shining example of how a family-owned business can quickly adapt to changing customer demands to set the design standard in the industry."
