Rudder Moves to Magnolia Regional (Movers & Shakers)

Dr. James Rudder has joined the medical team of Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

Rudder is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacements, including the knees, hips and shoulders. Rudder, who for the last 20 years has practiced in the Hot Springs area, completed his medical training at UAMS and received orthopedic surgery training at the Texas A&M College of Medicine.

Dr. Samuel Agnew has joined the medical staff at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.

Agnew is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist with more than 30 years of experience. He specializes in the repair of musculoskeletal injuries caused by trauma, as well as general musculoskeletal care.

Agnew attended medical school at Tulane University of Medicine.


Joseph Smotherman, executive vice president and chief strategy officer of White River Health System in Batesville, has been named to the additional role of chief operating officer of Stone County Medical Center in Mountain View, where he will be responsible for overall operations.


Elizabeth Pitman has been promoted from deputy director to director of the Arkansas Department of Human Services in Little Rock.
