North Arkansas College in Harrison has named Rick Massengale as its sixth president, effective Aug. 2

He previously served as the college's vice president for academic and student affairs and was chosen following a national search began in May. He succeeds Randy Esters, who resigned to return home to Louisiana.

Massengale will be paid a salary of $160,000 with an additional $18,000 housing allowance and has signed a two-year contract.

Before joining Northark, Massengale was associate vice president for sponsored programs and university initiatives at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and a professor of computer and information science there.

He earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from ATU, master's degrees from Webster University and the University of Arkansas, and doctorate in applied science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

"My goal is to continue the positive momentum Northark has going," Massengale said in a news release. "I love this college and the Northark family. My focus is to continue supporting our students, faculty and staff, and the communities we serve. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Northark in this capacity."
