Giving Guide: University of the Ozarks

MISSION

True to its Christian heritage, the University of the Ozarks prepares students from diverse religious, cultural, educational and economic backgrounds to live life fully.

Founded in 1834, Ozarks has been on the forefront of social change since its beginning. Ozarks was the first university in Arkansas to accept women in 1875. During the Great Depression, Ozarks allowed students to work in order to continue going to school. In the early 1940s, the campus was used for Navy and Army training. Ozarks was the first traditionally white college to admit African American students in Arkansas in 1957.
