Tim Chatman will join his alma mater, Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge, as dean of students, effective in October. He earned a degree in business administration from WBU in 2007 and a master of divinity in missions from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2018.
Chatman has previous experience in Christian higher education, and most recently served as the associate pastor of youth, young families and administration at First Baptist Church in Paris, Texas.
Blake Johnson has been named assistant provost for student success and retention at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, effective Oct. 18. Johnson is leaving an administrative role at the University of Wyoming for the newly created position at UAFS.
Julie Gumm has been promoted to chief marketing and communications officer at John Brown University in Siloam Springs. Gumm, who joined JBU full time in 2014, has been director of university marketing and communications for four years. She has also been named to the eight-member President’s Cabinet.
Ron Rainey, a professor and extension economist, has been appointed assistant vice president for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture in Little Rock. Rainey, who has worked for the UA System for more than 25 years, will continue as director of the Southern Risk Management Education Center, which serves 13 southeastern states as well as Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands.
