Morrison-Shipley Engineers of Fort Smith is being acquired by the architecture and engineering group Halff Associates Inc. of Richardson, Texas, the companies announced Thursday.

The Arkansas-based firm, now known as Morrison-Shipley Halff, provides civil engineering, land surveying, building information modeling, aerial mapping and 3D laser scanning services to private and public entities in the South and Midwest.

The firm is known for its involvement in the reconstruction of the Bachman Wilson House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

The company employs more than 50 people.

“We are excited about Morrison-Shipley joining Halff because their culture of putting people first so closely aligns with ours,” Halff President & CEO Mark Edwards said in a news release. “Their reputation for excellence will help grow our presence in Arkansas and beyond, as well as provide greater opportunities for both firms’ employees.”

Halff has 28 offices in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Florida. It provides engineering, architecture, landscape, energy and surveying services.

“Being part of the Halff family is a big step forward for us,” Greg Shipley, Morrison-Shipley’s president, said in the release. “Joining a firm with a similar mission and culture will accelerate our growth as we continue to serve our clients. We are especially excited about offering additional services to tap into new markets and give our people additional opportunities.”
