Wenger Set for Vice Chancellor Slot at NWA UAMS (Movers & Shakers)

Amy Wenger will succeed Pearl McElfish as vice chancellor for the northwest regional campus of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences on Dec. 1. McElfish will continue as director of community health and research and serve as associate director of community outreach and engagement for UAMS’ Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

Wenger, a northwest Arkansas native who lives in Fayetteville, is currently vice chancellor for regional campuses and will continue in that role “while UAMS formulates a plan for new leadership,” according to a news release.

She previously served as the chancellor’s chief of staff, as administrator for several areas including women’s health, surgical specialties and the Department of Nursing and as business officer for both nursing and the Psychiatric Research Institute.

Wenger has a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Will Whiting has joined UAMS in Little Rock as associate vice chancellor for the Office of Institutional Advancement. Whiting is a former vice president for public affairs and advocacy at the Little Rock Regional Chamber and held positions at the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation. He has held advancement positions at the University of Tennessee and the University of Arkansas.
