In May, the Internal Revenue Service filed a tax lien claim that the largest provider of drinking water in Arkansas was in arrears to the tune of nearly $1 million.
In response, Central Arkansas Water quickly provided documentation that its federal tax withholdings for fiscal year 2019 were in good order.
But the release of that IRS tax lien didn’t hit the public record until months later. Correcting the taxman’s erroneous position was considered a non-event at CAW headquarters in Little Rock.
What caused a glitch in the IRS matrix? Unknown.
