Middleton Accepts Chief of Staff Role at JRMC (Movers & Shakers)

Dr. Toni Middleton has been named chief of staff for Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Middleton earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed her residency in family medicine in Pine Bluff at the UAMS-Area Health Education Center. She is a professor at the UAMS-South Central Family Medicine Residency program and sees patients at the UAMS clinic in Pine Bluff.


Dr. Michelle Eckert, a general surgeon at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, has been inducted into the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the primary leadership organization for general surgeons who treat patients with breast disease.

Ashley Calvillo, an advanced practice registered nurse, has joined Baptist Health Lung Center-Fort Smith. Calvillo earned a Master of Science in nursing from Walden University of Minneapolis.


Branden Barkema has joined MedEvolve Inc. of Little Rock as chief revenue cycle officer. He previously worked as chief operating officer at North Florida Surgeons of Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Alicia Asbury, a pediatrician, has joined CHI St. Vincent Pediatric Clinic in Hot Springs. Asbury attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Patricia Cowan, a registered nurse and the dean of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing, was selected as an on-site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, an accrediting agency for baccalaureate, graduate and residency programs in nursing.


Katy Davis

Olivia “Katy” Davis, an advanced practice registered nurse, has joined Stone County Family Medicine Clinic of Mountain View.

Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Central Arkansas.


Amanda Bolls Smith has been named executive director of the Methodist Family Health Foundation, and Eva Englert-Jessen has been named its director of pastoral care.

Smith previously worked for nonprofits including the March of Dimes, American Heart Association and Baptist Health Foundation.

Englert-Jessen most recently served on staff at Hendrix College of Conway’s religious life program.
