Summer Khairi

Some people move to Little Rock and see it for the first time. A Little Rock native, Khairi, 27, likes seeing it every time. Whenever she travels, Khairi says, she is always happy to get back within city limits.

“It has natural beauty all around us, along with great restaurants and coffee shops,” she says. “The people in Little Rock are friendly and always make you feel welcome. The quality of life and work is ideal.”

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine at UAMS and a Master of Business Administration at UA Little Rock. A PhD candidate at the University of Central Arkansas, the studious Khairi also enjoys basketball, tennis and hiking or running the city’s many trails.

Neighborhood I Call Home: West Little Rock/Chenal.

My Go-To Place in Little Rock is: The Little Rock Athletic Club, because my favorite thing to do in my free time is to play tennis and basketball. When I get asked why I love the LRAC, I always say it is my happy place. The facility and staff are top notch. I get to play the sports I love and be surrounded by great friends.

Favorite Local Little Rock Lunch Spot: Oceans at Arthur's is my favorite lunch spot in Little Rock. Jerry Barakat is the owner and he makes it a great experience anytime I am eating lunch or dinner there. He is a top notch restaurateur who loves people and will do anything for you.

I Love Little Rock Because: I get to enjoy all the seasons. You do not have to fight traffic whenever you are out and about. You have access to natural beauty everywhere.

On the Weekend You Can Find Me: Out and about enjoying the outdoors, running at the Big Dam Bridge, hiking up Pinnacle Mountain, playing tennis and trying new local restaurants.

Newcomers to Little Rock Should Definitely: Go watch the UA Little Rock women’s and men’s basketball games. UA Little Rock does a great job hosting. I have been attending the basketball games since I was 4 years old.

Little Rock Surprised Me Because: Growing up everyone talks about moving away to exciting new places. However, as I get older I do want to travel to exciting places, but I always look forward to coming back home and being with family and friends. There is nothing better than your hometown.
