$2M Grant to Connect Roadway to Springdale Development

1 min read

The U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded a $2 million grant to the City of Springdale to extend Dixieland Road on the city’s north side, a project aimed at supporting business development.

The funds, which come from the American Rescue Plan Act, will be used to create direct highway access for a proposed 700,000-SF commercial distribution and warehouse industrial lease space, the department said in a news release. The project is expected to attract new businesses to the area.

The grant will be matched with $4.9 million in local funds and is expected to create 1,000 jobs and generate $42 million in private investment.

“Infrastructure is vital to economic growth and job creation, and this project will lay the groundwork to support a variety of increased industrial and manufacturing possibilities,” Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said in the release.

The project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District.
