The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra has received a $1.5 million, two-to-one challenge grant from the Windgate Foundation to help build its previously announced Stella Boyle Smith Music Center.
ASO will be able to break ground once it raises $3 million in matching donations. The nonprofit has already raised 60% of the funds and aims to raise the rest by April.
The site for the 20,000-SF center is in Little Rock’s East Village, between Heifer International and the Clinton Presidential Center. The pending sale of the Heifer property to OneHealth Education Group of Little Rock, the company working with Lyon College of Batesville to create Arkansas’ first dental and veterinary schools, will not affect the ASO project, the firm and college said last month.
