Union County has received a $1.3 million federal grant to make railroad and other infrastructure improvements at the El Dorado Industrial Park.
The project will construct railroad spurs and a cross-docking facility to support manufacturing business growth in the industrial park, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration said in a news release. The grant will be matched by $370,000 in local funds and is expected to create 125 jobs, retain 25 jobs, and generate $14.8 million in private investment.
“This grant signals El Dorado’s continued and growing value as a link in Arkansas’s economy and its importance to the nation’s infrastructure,” Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in a news release. “El Dorado’s story is one of success, but its leaders have never rested and continue to chase economic success.”
The project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District.
