The Root Cafe Plans Second Location at Breckenridge Village

1 min read

The Root Cafe is the latest restaurant to announce plans for a location at the redeveloped Breckenridge Village shopping center in Little Rock.

Owners Jack Sundell and Corri Bristow-Sundell said in a news release that they’re “working toward” opening next door to another addition to the shopping center, Deluca’s Pizza of Hot Springs.

The Root would also join Waldo’s Chicken & Beer and Flyway Brewing Co. of North Little Rock.

The new owners of Breckenridge Village, a group led by the Keet family, told Arkansas Business last month that talks were ongoing with other local restaurants but declined to reveal more.

The group, KBK-Breck LLC, acquired the shopping center at 10301 N. Rodney Parham Road in May for $11.3 million. They’re planning to spend millions to transform the aging development into a  “restaurant-centric” destination with new building exteriors, new signage, and a courtyard with amphitheater-style seating.

The Root’s original location in Little Rock’s South Main district opened in 2011. Its owners also announced this week that they had sold Mockingbird Bar & Tacos to a group of Cabot restaurateurs.
