Faith Woodard Joins KTHV as Evening Anchor

2 min read

After losing one news anchor to Florida, KTHV in Little Rock has gained one from the Sunshine State.

The CBS affiliate announced that it has hired Faith Woodard, a Tampa native most recently at KGBT-TV in Harlingen, Texas, known as CBS4 in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Woodard has joined Channel 11’s evening team with Craig O’Neill, Rolly Hoyt, and Chief Meteorologist Tom Brannon.

Woodard succeeds Marlisa Goldsmith, who left KTHV in June after three years to join WOFL, Fox35 in Orlando.

Woodard studied at Georgetown University in Washington — where she was captain of the women’s basketball team — and the Columbia School of Journalism. Previously she worked at WBOC in Maryland, SportsNet New York and the Big East Digital Network.

In her reporting career, she has covered NASA launches, killer tornadoes, border crossings, the 2021 Texas electric grid collapse and most recently the school massacre in Uvalde.

She also made a terrific first impression on her boss, KTHV News Director Shayla Teeter.

“The first time I talked to her, I knew I wanted her to work on our team,” Teater told Arkansas Business, calling Woodard “one of the smartest people” she ever met.

“She is a true journalist who wants to make a difference in her community. She has had a chance to report on and anchor during some major breaking news events, and brings that experience to our team. I know she will have a big impact on the community. She also happens to be fun and full of personality.”

Woodard was inspired to pursue journalism after seeing the importance of news coverage after Hurricane Katrina, she said in a news release.

“I was drawn to THV11 because of the amazing leadership and team members,” she said. “They’re building something really special here, and are some of the brightest minds this industry can offer.”

THV11 general manager Marty Schack said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Faith to THV11 and Arkansas, and know she’ll connect with and inspire new audiences to tune in across our various news platforms. She is not to be missed.”

Woodard will start this month, appearing on THV11 News at 5, 6, and 10 pm.
