The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has received a $125,000 federal grant to help companies pursuing federal Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer grants and contracts.

The funds were awarded through a U.S. Small Business Administration program that provides startups, particularly those in underserved communities, with specialized training, mentoring, and technical assistance for research and development. More than $5.4 million was awarded to 43 recipients.

The center at UA Little Rock plans several activities to help Arkansas companies pursue and win early-stage seed funding, including:

  • Agency-specific webinars
  • Virtual accelerators
  • Proposal development assistance for researchers

Laura Fine, director the center, said it has helped clients obtain 54 grants worth over $22 million since 2018.
