Cycling tool and repair stand startup Altangle Cycling LLC of Houston has announced that it's relocating to Bentonville, the latest bike business that sees northwest Arkansas as the industry's new U.S. epicenter.

The company, founded in September 2021, said it plans to scale business operations in the region and hire for a variety of positions in marketing, sales and product development.

Squires Smith and his brother Scott are the company's founders and co-owners. They made the decision to relocate after Squires participated in Bentonville's Rule of Three race while visiting the region to find new product dealers.

"Bentonville is not only building miles of interconnected mountain bike and gravel trails but also a thriving business community with numerous state and private organizations geared towards supporting startups," Squires Smith said in a news release. "It's clear that the region is intentionally developing both the culture and resources required to support companies in every stage of the life cycle."

The company said the Runway Group, OZ Trails Northwest Arkansas, Plug & Play Northwest Arkansas, the Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation, The Collaborative and Startup Junkie were key factors in the move to northwest Arkansas.

"The resources that are available for startups in Bentonville have been beyond our expectation," Squires Smith said.

Relocating to Bentonville will also reduce travel expenses, as the city hosts a number of high-profile consumer and industry events.

Altangle's products include The Hangar, a portable bike maintenance stand that can be utilized in almost any standard doorframe, and the A2, a pocket-sized attachment designed to turn a standard threaded co2 cartridge into a fully functional tire lever.

Altangle's move comes after bicycle tire company Vittoria Industries and cycling lifestyle brand Rapha of London relocated their North American headquarters to Bentonville, citing the area's rise as a cycling destination.
