Mercy Breaks Ground on New Fort Smith Clinic
Officials from Fort Smith and Mercy break ground on the health provider's new clinic in the city on Nov. 16, 2022 (Mercy)

Missouri-based health provider Mercy has broken ground on a new clinic in Fort Smith that will replace a location destroyed by a tornado in 2019.

The new clinic at 4600 Towson Ave. will be about 6,200 SF and provide primary care services such as wellness exams, flu shots and other vaccines, X-ray and lab services and more. Dr. Fareed Kannout, an internal medicine specialist with Mercy, will move his practice to the clinic, with additional providers expected to join.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Mercy to provide a primary care location that will be convenient for our patients ... Our goal is to provide easy access to state-of-the-art services for our patients, and we believe this new clinic will do just that," Dr. David Hunton, president of Mercy Clinic Fort Smith, said in a news release.

Mercy officials anticipate the new clinic will open in late 2023. New patients will be accepted.
