Ronnie Dedman has announced he is retiring as president of AT&T Arkansas at the end of the year.

After more than 45 years with AT&T, Dedman “is looking forward to spending more time with his family,” an AT&T spokeswoman said via email. “We do not have any announcements to make at this time regarding plans for our leadership team in the state.”

A native of Tuckerman (Jackson County), Dedman began his AT&T career with a summer internship at then-Southwestern Bell. Dedman worked as a directory assistance operator while attending college at Arkansas State University, and he worked in operator services and marketing before joining the external affairs team as a director in 1995.

He was named president in 2018.

Dedman has served as chairman of the board of directors of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. He was the first African American to hold that position.
