Organic waste management company Denali Water Solutions of Russellville has named Todd Mathes as CEO.

Mathes succeeds Andy McNeill, who is shifting to a position as board chair after nearly 10 years as the company's top executive.

Mathes joined Denali in 2021 as president and chief operations officer. He brings more than 20 years of industry experience to his new role.

Prior to joining Denali, Mathes was a senior vice president at Darling Ingredients of Irving, Texas, a publicly traded animal food manufacturing company. Before then, he spent more than a decade as COO of Terra Renewal Services Inc. of Dardanelle, an environmental services firm that McNeill led before he joined Denali.

"I have had the privilege to learn under Andy during my time at Denali and previously at Terra Renewal and am pleased to continue partnering with him as we take on these new roles," Mathes said in a news release.

Mathes takes over a company that has grown fast since it was purchased in 2020 by TPG Growth, the equity investment platform of alternative asset firm TPG.

Since then, Denali has completed 13 acquisitions, including Organix Recycling, the largest pre-consumer food waste collector and processor in the U.S., and Imperial Western Products, a southwest-based processor of organic waste and producer of biodiesel.

McNeill told Arkansas Business in 2021 that he was looking to build Denali into a billion-dollar company. At the time, Denali was in the process of issuing public debt and had about $400 million in annual revenue.

Mathes appears poised to continue that growth. TPG called him a "proven operator" with deep relationships across the industry.

"It has been a pleasure to partner with Andy, Todd, and the Denali team, and together we have been laying the groundwork for this next phase of growth at the Company for a number of years," said Ransom Langford, a partner at TPG. "We’re pleased to continue working with Andy in his role as Chairman."
