Dr. Ahmed Abuabdou has been named chief clinical officer at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences of Little Rock. Abuabdou joined UAMS in 2012 and is an associate professor of medicine. As chief clinical officer, he will oversee staff interactions with leadership and service lines, as well as chair the Clinical Leadership Council. Dr. Michelle Krause has been named senior vice chancellor of UAMS Health and chief executive officer of UAMS Medical Center. Krause is now responsible for the 535-bed hospital, outpatient clinics, digital health services and clinics. She will serve as chair of the board of directors of the Baptist Health-UAMS Accountable Care Alliance and will also serve as a professor in the UAMS College of Medicine.
Dr. Jay Bhama has joined St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro as a cardiovascular surgeon. Bhama joins the hospital’s heart and vascular team from UAMS, where he was the surgical director of the Heart Center and Cardiovascular Service Line. Bhama is the only cardiothoracic surgeon in Arkansas to be a current member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery.
Lauren Norris has been promoted to director of marketing at Conway Regional Health System. She was serving as the interim director prior to her promotion.
