Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has appointed Gary Harpole of Jonesboro and Christy Clark of Little Rock to the board of trustees of the Arkansas State University System.

Harpole is a managing partner and director of development at Halsey Thrasher Harpole Real Estate Group in Jonesboro. His term on the ASU board expires in January 2030. Harpole replaces Niel Crowson, who resigned after eight years on the board.

Before becoming a real estate executive, Harpole was director of operations for the City of Jonesboro, chief of staff in the mayor’s office and a city councilman.

Clark, who graduated from A-State in 1992, is controller of Clark Contractors LLC of Little Rock. Her professional memberships include the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

She's also a founding member of the A-State Women’s Leadership Center and a board member at Home for Healing and Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches.

A previous version of this story incorrectly said that Harpole is an A-State graduate.
