Former Democratic candidate for governor Chris Jones has launched a PAC aimed at flipping Arkansas' four congressional districts.
Vortex PAC will recruit, train and build organizing power for Democratic candidates in all 75 counties. In a news release, Jones called the PAC a "grassroots movement" that will work to counter the effects of gerrymandering and voter suppression.
The PAC's name is a reference to how bumblebees achieve flight — they flap their wings and create a vortex that lifts them up. "And that’s just what we’re going to do here in Arkansas," Jones said. "We are the vortex, and together we will rise up."
Jones acknowledged that unseating the state's Republican congressional delegates will be a "heavy lift."
