John Roberts, the CEO of J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. of Lowell, received total compensation of $9.2 million in 2022, according to a proxy statement the company filed with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.
Roberts’ compensation was an increase from the $8.8 million he received in 2021. His compensation included a base salary of $975,325, up from $937,115, stock awards of $6.6 million, up from $6 million, and $1.6 million in incentive plan compensation, down from $1.8 million.
J.B. Hunt reported that Roberts’ CEO compensation was 124 times greater than the median employee’s income of $74,311.
Other named executives and their compensation:
- Shelley Simpson, president, received total compensation of $8.8 million, up from $3.67 million. Simpson’s pay bump was powered by $7.1 million in stock awards after her promotion from chief commercial officer to president in August. Her salary was $660,577 and she received $1.05 million in incentive plan compensation.
- John Kuhlow, CFO, received total compensation of $2.96 million, up from $2.77 million. Kuhlow’s salary was $466,346, and he received $1.8 million in stock awards and $672,125 in incentive plan compensation.
- Nicholas Hobbs, COO, received total compensation of $3.725 million, up from $3.66 million. His salary was $622,116, and he received stock awards of $2.2 million and $884,375 in incentive plan compensation.
- Darren Field, president of the intermodal division, received total compensation of $3.48 million, up from $3.25 million. His salary was $516,346, and he received stock awards of $2.2 million and $742,875 in incentive plan compensation.
J.B. Hunt announced its annual shareholders meeting will be at 10 a.m. April 27 at the company’s headquarters in Lowell. The agenda includes electing the nine-member board of directors and reappointing PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as independent auditor.
