The Little Rock Regional Chamber on Monday announced it had hired Teuana Smith as director of diversity initiatives and programming.

Smith joins the chamber from the Arkadelphia Regional Economic Development Alliance and Area Chamber of Commerce, where she held roles in event coordination, marketing and communications, and member engagement.

In her new role, Smith will be responsible for the expansion of the chamber's minority programming, as well as increasing awareness for businesses to maximize procurement opportunities, the chamber said in a news release.

Smith will also support area businesses engaging in diversity, equity and inclusion by creating programs and resources. She'll be involved in planning and coordination of chamber events such as the Cultivate: Women’s Business Series, Small Business Impact Awards, Business After Hours and Serve the Rock.

"Teuana brings an energy and enthusiasm that will take our organization to the next level in serving our membership and community," Jack Thomas, the chamber's vice president of economic development, said in the release.

Smith holds a degree in mass communications from Henderson State University and is pursuing her master’s in mass communications and public relations from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
