Dr. Brian Hyatt of Rogers, who has come under scrutiny because of his billing practices, has touted on his website his connection with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
“Since 2018, Dr. Hyatt has also been proud to serve as the team psychiatrist for all sports at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville,” according to Hyatt’s profile on the website of his clinic, Pinnacle Premier Psychiatry.
But in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from Whispers, the University of Arkansas said via email that the school has no record of a contract with Hyatt or Pinnacle Premier Psychiatry, nor is Hyatt affiliated with Razorback Athletics or any of its athletics teams.
“Prior to our affiliation with UAMS [the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences] beginning in 2021, Dr. Hyatt happened to be among the supplemental mental health providers available via a third-party health system, where he occasionally saw student-athletes on a case-by-case basis,” the email said.
Hyatt’s legal team said in a statement that he served as “a resource to the University of Arkansas athletic department from 2018 – 2021. That informal relationship ended when COVID hit.”
In a follow-up email, Whispers asked why the description was still on his website.
“The Pinnacle website has not been updated in some time,” the statement said.
But his profile references his position, which is now former, as chairman of the Arkansas State Medical Board. His term began Jan. 1.
He resigned from the Medical Board on May 16.
