Metroplan, the long-range planning organization for central Arkansas, on Wednesday announced it had awarded $16.5 million in grants for transportation improvement projects in the region.
The funds are provided through the federal Surface Transportation Block Grant and Carbon Reduction programs, which are administered by the Federal Highway Administration.
Fifteen projects were awarded grants for the 2024 program cycle. Metroplan said the grants reflect its commitment to investments in the Central Arkansas Regional Greenways, as well as projects that address safety and congestion issues at intersections.
