CHI St. Vincent on Wednesday named Dr. William G. Jones as the new president of CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
He follows Shawn Barnett, who had served as president of CHI St. Vincent Infirmary and CHI St. Vincent North in Sherwood. Barnett will now serve exclusively as president of CHI St. Vincent North.
Jones has been the chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary for the past five years. In addition to his new role as president, he'll continue to serve as chief medical officer.
"We are excited as he enters this new role, elevating our mission to provide the highest quality of healthcare to patients," hospital CEO Chad Aduddell said in a news release. "We also express our deepest gratitude to Shawn Barnett for his continued exceptional leadership as president of our CHI St. Vincent North location. His visionary approach will continue to positively impact our patients and their families at North."
Jones brings more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry. Before his roles with CHI St. Vincent, he practiced cardiothoracic surgery in Dallas for 27 years and was chief medical officer for Tenet Healthcare and Baylor Scott & White.
He also held various leadership roles, including managing physician partner at Texas Regional Medical Center and president of Texas Cardiothoracic Surgery Associates.
A native of El Dorado and a graduate of UAMS School of Medicine, Jones completed his training in cardiothoracic surgery at New York Presbyterian and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospitals in New York City, where he was also a member of the faculty of the Cornell University School of Medicine.
"I am deeply honored and thrilled to lead the remarkable team at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary," Jones said. "As we move forward, I am committed to upholding CHI St. Vincent's legacy of compassionate care and advancing its reputation as a center of excellence in medical services, research and education."
